MG 1/100 RX-93 Nu Gundam
Data:
MSRP: 5250 yen
Purchase Price: $50.00
Where: Ohayocon Dealer Room, Columbus, OH
When: January, 2004
Review:
This was my very first Master Grade model. The price was decent, likely because the box was slightly damaged. The model itself was pretty easy to put together, but I do remember the hyper bazooka breaking in half at one point. (fixed with super glue)
This model distinguishes itself in two ways:
1.) It's the tallest of the master grade Gundam models, topped only by the MG Sazabi and the MG Perfect Zeong, I believe. With its size, it's definitely more of a presence on your shelf than the smaller MG kits.
2.) The metallic ankle joint makes the model bottom heavy and allows it to stand with that huge fin funnel on its backpack. Out of all the models that I've built, this is the only one that has such a mechanism.
The joints are all well-designed and firm with the internal mechanics looking great. Posability is better than average considering that this is an early MG model. Obviously not as posable as the MG God Gundam. The beam rifle is also very well designed, and has one of the better grips of all the rifles I've seen on MG models.
A really great kit, all-around. I don't think I'd recommend it to be your first MG like it was for me, though...
